The Poetry of War

The Dark Shadows in My Dreams
The Dark Shadows at the Door, I Am Awake in My Dreams(c)
By Cook Barela

There痴 a dark shadow
That dwells with me at night
Dwells silently until I drift into twilight

Then he moves closer and stands there by my side
As I struggle to gain back my sight
He jumps upon me with all his might

We struggle in darkness
Between his world and mine
Death, destruction and hatred are at our side
He claims my spirit for his own
As I struggle to awaken with a groan

My minds awake
My soul痴 asleep
How long a struggle
Long and deep

I知 awake in my dreams while I sleep
My eyes are closed, but I see all
Is there no one that can hear my call?

I知 awake but still I sleep
And those dark shadows of a war long gone
Visiting my mind in this darkened zone
Will not prevail to this I知 sworn

I値l look for them tonight in their darken graves
Wait for them in the dark they crave
I値l battle before to live once more
What does it matters, the battle zone

THE SHADOWS AT MY SIDE
The aged warrior-taking inventory of his life begins to recognize what he has never dared to acknowledge before
